A comedic blend of murder, mystery and marijuana. Trying to escape the infamy of a serial killer father, Trent Modine and his goof-ball stepbrother Joey, both seeking a new start, find refuge in the small town of Mooseheart. Joey, a complete stoner in a town known for its good weed and stories of the Candy Corn Killer, is a disaster waiting to happen. As you can imagine, it doesn’t take long before the family name catches up. Trent and Joey must figure out how to sort through a string of cliché murders that so happen starts right as they arrive.
Halloweed will appeal to cinephiles that appreciate unions between Comedy and Horror. The film pays homage to slasher concepts. Setting Lazreal Lison’s film apart in the genre is the many raunchy references. Yet, the center of attention of the film is the heavy use of Marijuana. Antics offered throughout the film warrants a “smack my head” reaction from audiences. This especially holds true if viewing the film under the influence of some good weed.
Lazreal Lison’s film crosses genres with elements of mystery and light-hearted drama. The comedic element is entertaining with characteristics worthy of a becoming a cult classic.
