Abyzou: Taker of Children on Kickstarter

Abyzou: Taker of Children is the next indie Horror Production to arrive on Kickstarter. The film is centered on supernatural elements based on Hebrew mythology. According to DecayMag.com Jordan Pacheco's "Abyzou: Taker of Children"legend, the name Abyzou translates to “The Taker of Children”. This is a nefarious entity (or in this case a dybbuk) is female in origin. The myth describes Abyzou as a disembidied spirit said to be responsible for miscarriages. If the word dybbuk seems familiar in the Horror creative spectrum, it should. The concept of the dybbuk made an appearance within the 2012 release “The Possession”.

“Abyzou: Taker of Children” is a joint production between Lock It Down Productions and Grimbridge Productions. The multi-facet Jordan Pacheco has a career spanning five years. Pacheco offers experience across production fields including; Make Up Effects, acting  and screen writer. “Abyzou: Taker of Children” is set to mark Pacheco’s fourth production. Pacheco penned the script to will star in and direct the feature.

According to the Crowdfunding campaign “Abyzou: Taker of Children” is currently in production. Filming set to begin summer 2016. A goal is set to have a the film offered through distribution channels. Horror enthusiasts can expect the film to release on Blu-Ray, DVD and/or video on demand.  The initial release for “Abyzou: Taker of Children” will be through film festival channels. According to IMDB.com a release date is tentatively set for the 1st of October 2016 (USA).

Alex DiVincenzo and Jon Robidoux serve as producers and Neil Guliano joins the project as Cinematographer. The production team set the crowdfunding goal to two thousand dollars.  Sixteen days remain as of the 27th of April 2016 before the closing date.

Abyzou budget

Funds will distribute in various facets of production costs. The focus will center on the use of practical effects. As Horror enthusiasts we can all appreciate the importance of quality make up effects. How often have ridiculous effects reared its presence on screen? One too many.

This crowd funding sets a platform for Horror enthusiasts to see quality effects presented. After all special make-up design is in itself a form of art. Contribute to great Horror-centric art!

Unlike Hollywood, the effects/make-up craft is much alive within the indie Horror circuit. The pie chart provided offers a glimpse on the allocated budget sources.

Synopsis:

“Hailee and her boyfriend, Dylan, return from a romantic trip to Israel to learn they are expecting a child. Their celebration quickly descends to terror when Hailee becomes a surrogate of the demon Abyzou. Unable to give birth to a child of her own, this ancient evil will stop at nothing to spawn her infernal offspring. The young mother-to-be must draw on the strength of her loved ones to protect her unborn child.”
