“Children of the Corn: Runaway” has been confirmed and is in production. Joel Soisson , who wrote and directed “Children of the Corn: Genesis”, penned the script for “Children of the Corn: Runaway”. The film details are as follows:

Children of the Corn: Runaway follows a young pregnant woman who escapes a murderous child cult in a small Midwestern town. She then spends the next decade living anonymously in an attempt to spare her son the horrors that he experienced as a child. She lands in the small Oklahoma town…but something is following her. Now, she must confront this evil or lose her child.

It’s rumored that Alexandre Lehmann (“Project X”, “Pulse”, “The Collector”, “Feast II: Sloppy Seconds”) could be the director. Also a candidat to direct is  John Gulager (“Feast”, “Feast II: Sloppy Seconds”, “Pirhana 3DD”). Gatlin Returns, Inc. will produce “Children of the Corn: Runaway”, alongside Mike Leahy  (“Feast”, “Halloween: Resurrection”, “He Was a Quiet Man” “Pulse”), Joel Soisson, and Sean Patrick Eaton (“The Killer Inside Me”, “Rudderless”).

Also, circulating in the news, is that “Children of the Corn: Runaway” is connected to the “Children of the Corn” 2009 television movie remake by Donald P. Borchers. If you’ve watched it, you will notice that Alexa Nikolas , starred as Ruth Gordan, pregnant girlfriend to Isaac. This Ruth character is also the lead star in the “Children of the Corn: Runaway”. Coincidence?

Apparently, Dimension Films is desperate to keep their rights to the “Children of the Corn” franchise. Reportedly, Dimension Films has “secretly” started production to the new installment to the franchise. Just as they had done with “Children of the Corn: Genesis”, “Hellraiser: Judgment”, and “Hellraiser: Revelations”.

Stay tuned to for more details as it develops.
