Conor McGregor Nix Predator Fight

Its rare that moment when mixed martial arts and Horror, Science Fiction collide. Yet, there is a first for everything which brings you, the reader, to the topic at hand. Conor McGregor is an Irish mixed martial artist with a dominant run the UFC. UFC is an acronym for Ultimate Fighting Championship, a prestigious MMA promotion company.

McGregor, aka “The Notorious” is the UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion. He becomes the first combatant in the promotion’s history to achieve this feat. McGregor explained his motive in rejecting the offer to star in Black’s film. To sum, McGregor did not have the time to dedicate towards the project. Of course, this is understandable seeing as how McGregor is expecting the birth of his child. Yet, the money offered by the film producers became another obstacle, it was not to his measure. As a result, negotiations severed between the production team and McGregor.

The following is a transcript courtesy of Bloody Elbow;

“I’ll tell you there’s a lot of offers that I’ve turned down. I got offered The Predator movie…. During that three-day course, the people from Predator who are having this new Predator movie, a blockbuster.

They came in and tried to sell the whole shit. ‘We want you to be the main guy and you’re gonna fight Predator’ and I’m like ‘This sounds brilliant! How much?’ Not enough.

We went back and forth negotiating and the number climbed up but if I was to do it, it would mean eight weeks Toronto or somewhere. It’s too long a time. You can’t do a million things at once….

eight weeks on a film set is heavy as fuck. Plus it would have crept in around when Dee is due. I didn’t want to get tricky with that so I turned down that offer.”

McGregor would have made a great addition to the Predator cast. Actress Olivia Munn and actor Keegan-Michael Key are on onboard for this project. Also, there are new additions to the cast on board with actor Boyd Holbrook replaced Benicio del Toro as lead.

Actor Thomas Jane and 50 Cent are ironing out deals of their own to star in the film.
Predator Director, Co-Writer Shane Black offered the following via Twitter

The brash fighter’s acting career may venture in an upcoming episode of Game of Thrones. That verification depends on the source. McGregor denied the revelation with the following comment;

“I have never been in contact with anyone from Game of Thrones, about starring in Game of fucking Thrones! Don’t believe everything you hear.”

Yet, this comment negates the findings on Conor McGregor’s IMDB profile page. Of course, both Game of Thrones and MMA aficionados can always be entertained with this piece of footage;

The next Predator installment is set to be a sequel from the 1987 production. Specifics on the film plot remain confidential. Yet, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the backdrop will be set in the suburbs. Predator will release February 2018.
