shallow water 2

At the time of this writing a record setting campaign is underway on the crowdfunding website, Kickstarter. The objective if successful, is the acquirement of $550,000 in to finance “Shallow Water”, an independent horror movie project. For a horror film, the contribution goal is the highest registered on Kickstarter’s campaign history. However, the project creator is confident the goal will reach, perhaps even surpass the achievement. Presently, contributions towards “Shallow Water” have exceeded $40,000 with more than thirty days left before the deadline.

The synopsis to the film “Shallow Water” reads as follows:

“A fishing trip to a remote and mythical fishing hole goes awry and becomes a terrifying predicament that keeps getting worse. Nestled deep in the Sea of Cortez is a tiny island you won’t find on any map. Six fishermen scour the Baja peninsula to find this magical place, but when they finally reach their destination, they encounter some sea life that they did not expect. This puts them all at odds and it quickly becomes every man for himself. Which will prevail, Mother Nature or Human Nature?”

The project creator behind “Shallow Water” is certainly ambitious, a dreamer or perhaps both. Nevertheless, he offers truthful insight on Hollywood’s current approach to the Horror genre. With emphasis on practical effects, he hopes “Shallow Water”  will introduce a new icon in horror genre. The project creator states:

“I hear so many people complaining about all the sequels and reboots the Hollywood machine is cranking out..where are the NEW iconic creatures?..If Hollywood won’t do it, I will.”

Who is the daring individual making this exaggerated claim? Does this person have the experience to introduce a new horror icon? The person in question is none other than renowned Filmmaker, Special Effects Artist and Creature Design Artist; Sandy Collora. Sandy Collora garnered more than thirty years experience in his respected fields and is a notable figure in the Sci-fi and Horror film industry.

Sandy Collora certainly makes a good point, one many horror enthusiasts can strongly agree with. Hollywood is currently lax in producing time-tested, nightmare inducing horror films. With horror veteran Sandy Collora at the helm of the project, backed by a solid production team and the inclusion of practical effects,”Shallow Water” may be the breath of fresh air (pun intended) horror fans are yearning for.

Offer your financial support via the “Shallow Water” Kickstarter page and/ or reshare this article via social media to help spread the word on on what may be an upcoming cult classic in horror cinema.
