Fede Alvarez Horror Production Gets New Title

Fede Alvarez next installment to the Horror genre received a name change.  “A Man In the Dark” is now titled; “Don’t Breathe”. Sony Pictures, in association with Ghost House Pictures issued the announcement via press release. According to IMDB.com “Don’t Breathe” (“A Man in the Dark”) will release on the 26th of August 2016. The film had its world premier screening at SXSW over the weekend in Austin, Texas.

The Synopsis to “Don’t Breathe” (“A Man in the Dark”) reads as follows:

A group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist.  They’re wrong.

The feature features several members from the 2013 “Evil Dead” team. For this upcoming Horror, Thriller Jane Levy reunited with director Fede Alvarez. Fede Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues. Also, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert served as producers via Ghost House.

Dylan MinnetteDaniel Zovatto, and Stephen Lang also star in this critically acclaimed Horror, Thriller.

According to the press release:

Critics at SXSW were unanimous in their praise for the film.

The title is perplexing. The synopsis describes a home invasion scenario with the victim being a blind man. How does breathing come into play? Does the blind man have super enhanced sense of smell? Can he can detect if the intruders had garlic on their pizza? “A Man In The Dark” encompassed the film with perfection. Blindness equals darkness, the protagonist is a male. It doesn’t get any obvious as that. Even so, “Don’t Breathe” (“A Man in the Dark”) is a film we here are looking forward to reviewing. The film had lingered in some form of production since late 2014.
