Godzilla Returns to Japanese Theaters

Godzilla returns to wreak havoc on Japanese cities on the 29th of July 2016. Yes, the headline was a bit misleading, but this is Godzilla we’re talking about. Plus, this isn’t the obese, Americanized version of the Kaiju either. Besides it will be a couple of more years before we see another American version to the Japanese based monster.

Studios; Legendary and Warner Bros are planning a cross over between Godzilla and King Kong, as reported in our article “Godzilla and King Kong to battle again”. Until the epic battle comes into fruition “Godzilla Resurgence” is slated for theatrical release in Japan mid 2016. For more information on the cross-over production you can read the article in its entirety here. Its been eleven years since the decade old franchise graces the big screens. Back in 2004, Japanese film, theater production, and distribution company, Toho Co. Ltd released  “Godzilla: Final Wars”

“Godzilla Resurgence” will be the twenty-ninth production to the movie franchise. It’ll be interesting to see how CGI effects will blend with the Godzilla concept.

Toho Co. Ltd issued the teaser trailer for the film along with the movie  poster. The trailer (provided below) is merely a teaser and the down fall for non Japanese speaking viewing is that its not subtitled. However, if you’re a big Godzilla fan as I am its always cool to see a new updated version of of the classic movie monster. The only thing I’m concerned about  is the appeal of the film, it has a found footage feel to it. That in itself is a frighting thought. Hopefully a found footage concept isn’t the case, (no “Cloverfield” redux please).

No further information is available on an English dubbed version to the film, “Godzilla Resurgence” arriving to the U.S. Furthermore, development news has yet to be released for the epic cross-over Hollywood has planned.
