“JeruZalem” is a new Found Footage Horror film from Israeli directors Doron Paz and Yoav Paz. The brothers put a new spin on the found footage genre. “JeruZalem” released in the various film festival markets. “JeruZalem” film synopsis is:
When a couple of American young adults fly to Israel to visit the city of Jerusalem, a biblical nightmare falls upon the city.
Doron Paz tells Deadline:
“Jerusalem is normally seen through the lens of news coverage. We wanted to show the city through the eyes of a backpacker. There’s no better way to do it than a genre film.”
When you look at the trailer to“JeruZalem”you’ll notice an interesting quote that reads:
“…There are three gates to hell. One in the desert. One in the ocean. And one in Jerusalem.” (Jeremiah 19, Talmud).
Some intense scenes in the trailer makes this film stand out amongst others in the genre.
But, yet, “JeruZalem” doesn’t seem to spike the anticipated hype among audiences. IMDb rates it a 5.5 out of 10. Film Reviewer Jonathan Barkan (Bloody Disgusting) rates it a 2.5 out of 5. However, don’t let this discourage you. Despite these poor reviews, the film won a Haggiag Award for the Audience Award and Best Editing. It was also nominated for Best Israeli Feature. That alone says something worthwhile.
“JeruZalem” is produced by Epic Pictures, and stars Yael Grobglas (“Jane the Virgin”, “Rabies”, “The Island”), Yon Tumarkin (“Rock Ba-Casba”, “The Arbitrator”, “The Island”), and Danielle Jadelyn (“Folie a Trois”, “Awake”).
