Krampus Featurette Explores Folktale
Krampus, the upcoming film written and directed by Michael Dougherty will be released December 4th 2015. While most will be shopping, prepping holiday dinner or traveling its going to be tough to get potential theatergoers during the festive season. Its especially difficult considering that the film features a relatively an unknown entity among casual audiences. Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures are hoping to anchor in some interest to the upcoming film,”Krampus” by releasing a featurette about the titular character, a demon that is as much part of the Christmas holiday then Ole Saint Nick himself. The concept has been celebrated in Europe for many years, the U.S. it seems were virtually oblivious to the folktale. Guess recognizing the darkside of the holiday season was never a priority among holiday revelers. Nevertheless, the featured video adds some insight to the basis behind Michael Dougherty’s latest entry into horror cinema.
Legendary Pictures’ Krampus, a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday. When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
