In 1974 Tobe Hooper unleashed a vision of pure horror know as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. The film was ahead of its time with its graphic barbarism, insane cast of villainous characters as well as a slew of other factors. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” went on to become a prestigious addition in horror cinema. However, as is the case with sequels “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” not only had a horrendous second chapter but the franchise suffered from multiple strings of mediocre entries.

There were two chapters from “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, followed by a remake, and later a prequel to the remake. The latest entry, set to be released in 2016 and being marketed as the prequel to the original “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” the film. Titled “Leatherface”, the film delves into the backstory to the titular character of the franchise. Written by Seth M. Sherwood, Directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo “Leatherface” centers on the masked chainsaw wielding horror as a young boy, treading further into the past from the original “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.

The synopsis reads:

A young nurse is kidnapped by four violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call “Leatherface”.

Currently in Post-production ,the film is produced by Lionsgate, Twisted Pictures and Millennium Films and stars Stephen Dorff, Vanessa Grasse, Lili Taylor, Sam Strike, James Bloor, Sam Coleman, Finn Jones, and Jessica Madsen

  1. I don’t think any of these sequels or reboots will surpass the original. That film is a horror masterpiece. But that doesn’t mean I won’t go check out a film with Leatherface in it!
