“Martyrs” A Modern Horror Classic
“Martyrs” is a 2008 French horror film written and directed by Pascal Laugier and is classified under horror genre term known as New French Extremism. The controversial film is notorious for the inclusion of exploitation, graphic violence and relentless onslaught on the psyche.
Media affiliates in the Horror genre consider “Martyrs” to be one of the most notable selections in horror cinema to date. Personally, “Martyrs” is a film that I highly recommend to watch, and is held prominently on my best F**kin Horror films seen list. For those unfamiliar with the film please view and endure the ninety-plus minutes visual trauma called,”Martyrs”. The official synopsis to the film is as follows:
A young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.
