“México Bárbaro” Set for November Release
“México Bárbaro” (English translation Barbarous Mexico.) is an upcoming Latino Horror Anthology film featuring eight Mexican directors. The premise of the film centers on bringing brutally shocking tales of Mexican traditions and legends. Spearheaded by filmmaker and sound designer Lex Ortega “México Bárbaro” features contributions from notable Latino Horror director0; Jorge Michel Grau, Isaac Ezban, Laurette Flores, Ulises Guzmán, Edgar Nito, Gigi Saul Guerrero, and Aaron Soto. “México Bárbaro” producer Mayra Castro describes the film as:
“México Bárbaro shows the world stories that form a part of our culture, and even some that have haunted us and made us have nightmares since childhood, those ones which took away our innocence. The boogeyman, trolls, ghosts, creatures, Aztec sacrifices, and of course our most beloved tradition, Day Of The Dead, immerse in urban and rural stories are some of the issues that make up this anthology.”
Earlier this year “México Bárbaro” premiered at Sitges and screened at Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. In May 2015 Screen daily had reported that MPI/Dark Sky Films picked up the North American rights to the horror anthology film “México Bárbaro” from Raven Banner Entertainment. Dark Sky Films recently announced that “México Bárbaro” will be released on DVD and VOD formats on the 3rd of November 2015.
