DecayMag.com Predator 4 scriptNews of a revival to the “Predator” movie franchise first surfaced eighteen months ago. Collider had reported that a new “Predator” film was under consideration by 20th Century Fox. Veteran film director Shane Black  and is slated to direct the tentatively titled: “Predator 4”.  Fred Dekker of course is on board to pen the script. Rumors were running for some time prior to the published article. Many speculated that the next installment to the  series would be a reboot as opposed to a completely new entry. Shane Black set the record straight on the creative direction for “Predator”, Shane Black stated:

“Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine…the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”

It will be a while before news develops on the next “Predator” film. Knowing that a completed was ultimately submitted to major studio representatives doesn’t guarantee production efforts will move forward. While the news provided by Fred Dekker is refreshing to hear, it may be awhile before 20th Century Fox will even consider investing in the project. At least this is a first step towards a potentially awesome film especially with the team consisting of Black and Dekker. Since theaters have been inundated with reboots and remakes its good to know that the next “Predator” film will be original in content.
