Synopsis

Dig Two Graves tells the story of a young girl’s obsession with the death of her brother, taking her on a nightmarish journey where she must a face a deadly proposition to bring him back.

It explores emotional truths about grief and loss, while the striking visuals, which are often dark, moody, sexy, and dangerous, create a heightened reality where magic and mysticism can freely exist.

But this is a cautionary tale, as the title refers to an ancient Chinese proverb; “When you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves!”

Samantha Isler stars as Jake Mather. After backing out of facing a daring, but challenging jump off a very high cliff and into an ocean with her brother, she loses him to the deep waters that have consumed him.

Shortly after, she falls into distraught and despair, and she goes on a wild quest to bring him back.

She travels to a dark road, where she is greeted by three mysterious men, who tell her that her brother is not dead. He is just lost. And that she can bring him back if she’s willing to trade his life for another life.

Pros

The Dig Two Graves story is phenomenal. It’s very innovative and groundbreaking. The story is dark and full of mystery. Director Hunter Adams and Co-Writer Jeremy Phillips does an amazing job with building the intensity.

The backstories and the interwoven flashbacks help the viewer to connect with the characters. They are very crucial to explaining the concept of the film and story, and it’s easy to miss it if you’re not paying attention.

 Dig Two Graves requires full focus for understanding. The story is very complex and can become confusing at times.

The cast performances are amazing. Samantha Isler played her role of the distraught, depression young woman very well. She is shy, reserved, and lonesome.

Ted Levine plays a tough sheriff, who holds a grave secret. When Jake, his granddaughter is caught in the midst, he is forced to come to terms with his past, and unleash his skeletons.

In Conclusion

Dig Two Graves is an extraordinary tale of loss, heartbreak, and revenge. Adams does a phenomenal job on the direction. Backed with a great story and cast performance.
