First Impressions

The Golem trailer persuades the viewer in less than one minute. Intriguing scenes is enough to satisfy curiosities to want to dig deeper and know more. Like-minded productions showcase fear overall, which brings about vengeance and a desperation to execute. Bringing forth an ancient creature of some sort; an evil presence.

Golem, in Jewish folklore, an image endowed with life. The term is used in the Bible (Psalms 139:16) and in Talmudic literature to refer to an embryonic or incomplete substance. It assumed its present connotation in the Middle Ages, when many legends arose of wise men who could bring effigies to life by means of a charm or of a combination of letters forming a sacred word or one of the names of God.

The Paz Borthers’ production is one of many that uses ancient mythology. These films are interesting in the sense they bring to light different creatures and deities of such that holds fascinating history that are decades and centuries old. It’s an opportunity to offer fresh and innovative ideas to the genre if the directors proceed with the correct execution. Modern Day productions revolving around this general concept are a hit or miss.

In Conclusion

The Golem centers on Jewish folklore themes that unleash a different deity in the genre of mythology. One I have not yet seen, anyway. This concept is fresh with intriguing action and suspenseful scenes.
