A group of prisoners who are given the death sentence has a chance at freedom. While the high price is still their lives, they have another option to fight for their lives. Introducing The Jurrasic Games, a live television game show that pits criminals against, not only each other, but various creatures, including dinosaurs, saber-tooth tigers, and lethal insects. Simple play: eliminate your opponents and be the last one standing in the game. The game, however, isn’t simple as they encounter deadly traps, tricks, and twists that hike up the stakes. The prize, however, is their freedom.
From the creator of Gremlin, The Jurrasic Games is another action-packed Creature Feature to join the director’s repertoire. Jurrasic Park (Steven Spielberg, 1993) meets The Hunger Games (Gary Ross, 2012) in this epic Adventure, Suspense, Thriller of Man Vs. Man Vs. Beast.
Capital punishment has spiked controversy from opposing views for years. One final question remains; and a very valid question: what should be the punishment for hard crimes? Throughout the decades, punishment has evolved, and not for the worse. When you consider the punishment methods from different eras, you get a grand perception of how it has become more diligent. From times where there were many treacherous, torture devices, to the modern day, where the worst of worries is electrocution or lethal injection.
The Jurassic Games takes a different, more interesting approach to capital punishment. A group of hardened criminals from different backgrounds and crimes, all facing death row, given the chance to have their records erased and have a clean slate. However, they must fight for it. They’re pitted against dangerous creatures, and each other, as they must be the last one alive at the end of the games.
Bystanders have their reservations with opposing views. Some are for the games, as they believe these criminals get what they deserve. Some are against the games, as they feel they are unethical and inhumane. Ryan Bellgardt creates a captivating story and premise that is full of Action, Adventure, and Drama.
The practical and special effects are great. The film utilizes cyber technology with the creatures to add them to the game, but the violence is real. This is an interesting concept that deserves attention and increases the intensity. The cast performances deserve honorable notice. This cast really steals the show, each taking on their character roles and bringing them to life on the screen in a way where the audience can connect to them on an emotional level.
The Jurassic Games antes up the stakes in capital punishment. Ryan Bellgardt introduces an interesting pitch and a story that can leave a lasting mark on the audience on a psychological and emotional level.
