Overview:

Don’t Fuck in the Woods, the title is an homage to the exploitation era of Horror cinema. Does the content continue to capitalize with a nostalgic approach? The execution does mirror Horror films of yesteryear but only to a certain extent. Director and screenwriter Shawn Burkett created a formula most Horror enthusiasts can and will embrace.

Don’t Fuck in the Woods had two crowdfunding campaigns on IndieGoGo. The first garnered three thousand six hundred one dollar ($3,601). This campaign had the backing from seventy-six donors. The target was seven thousand three hundred twenty-seven ($7,327). Yet, the campaign only reached forty-nine percent towards the goal.

The second crowdfunding campaign proved successful. Two thousand one hundred fifteen dollars ($2,115) was raised. Thirty-four backers contributed with exceeding the target goal of one thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,800).

Pros:

A structured storyline is set aside for deviant visual stimulus. Sex and violence are the key ingredients to Don’t Fuck in the Woods. This, of course, is no surprise. The film is not a raunchy debacle of audacious brutality. Humor and Horror coexist with efficiency within Burkett’s narrative.

The centerpiece of the film resides with the practical effects. Implemented within Don’t Fuck in the Woods is a creature concept of above average. While fascinating the entity could have used a defining reveal. This treatment would have garnered great effect towards the creature design. Gore and blood are plentiful. Each grotesque execution has defining shock value.

Don’t Fuck in the Woods is Horror entertainment with simplicity . Intricate sub-plots are not part of this cinematic equation.

Cons:

Don’t Fuck in the Woods lacks a narrative. The film is successful in offering nudity, sex, and violence as Horror entertainment. Burkett’s vision is summed with two sentences and they are as follows;

  • Sexually charged young adults ventures into the woods.
  • An antagonizing force threatens their safety.

The audience is denied any reasonable backstory. The creature itself lacks depth with definition. Is the murder spree a result of sexual repression? Is the antagonizing force of extraterrestrial or terrestrial origin?

The acting has unrefined aesthetics. Although the portrayals do serve well with the content delivery. Yet, aside from the sex scenes, nothing formulates any sense of believability.

Nudity is prevalent within Burkett’s film. On display were buxom breasts and curvy buttocks. Yet, lacking is that from one gorgeous character, Parker. Where is the representation for women with curves? Did the film trek decades into the past to cater tastes on female form?

The final girl in Don’t Fuck in the Woods solidifies the argument presented in the film.
