Three years ago, twenty-two year old “girl-next door” Rachel barely survived a brutal massacre that left all of her friends murdered. Time has passed, and Rachel has moved on, but unfortunately her close friends are spending Spring Break in a secluded house in the woods, and they have cordially invited her to join. She would never have accepted the invitation if she realized that another bloodbath would be showing up as plus one. Once Rachel and her friends arrive at the cabin, the partying, sex, and…terror begins. From girls’ only pillow fights to debauchery in a bedroom, it’s going to be a blast…aside from the stabbing, flesh melting, and castration. Seven friends will go into a secluded house for the best Spring Break of their lives, but only one will be alive to post about it on Facebook the next week, as Rachel’s biggest fears become a reality once again! Can Rachel survive another bloody massacre?
WTF! does not furnish adequate scare factor, a slasher film consequence. This Horror sub-genre has due to its textbook method. In our initial report WTF! seemed to retain a conventional B-movie style and quality. Based on the footage Herro’s film hinted at producing low merits in conception. Nothing is further from the situation. The writing team presented modern flair while paying tribute to the slasher classics. Also conveyed were a touch of mystery and comedic value both giving WTF! a modernized approach. The writing while template based developed appropriate Horror aesthetics across each Act. where it lacks in originality WTF! succeeds with re-imagination.
The plot is well-established and interesting. Presented here is not the common appeal to slasher films. Audiences will connect with inquisitiveness and will appreciate the
Each performer delivers adequate chemistry for viewers to digest. While there is a level of ambivalence lurking in the subplot these underlying tones, do nothing to heighten the acting. The performances were of a suitable realization. Humor had a dry, sometimes innuendo-edged approach. Another focus with the comedic relief is the typical stoner and weed themed parody.
The performances were of a suitable realization. Humor had a dry, sometimes innuendo-edged approach. Another focus with the comedic relief is the typical stoner and weed themed parody. Its evident a specific demographic was the target with this concept. To sum, some of the characters we forgettable. Once the massacre began, it was only a matter of which obnoxious member of the assembly would die first.
Actress Callie Ott gets the spotlight recognition for her performance. Ott served as the framework for the narrative. She showed persuasiveness with sincerity and vulnerability, the internal struggles of her role. It is obvious her character serves as a critical component and Ott commands the lead.
The practical effects became an added surprise. Our initial commentary concentrated on whether WTF! will have sufficient gore to honor the poster art. The film does not disappoint in bloody carnage. In fact, Director Peter Herro opted to address this element within the first Act. From there the practical effects don’t engage in a distinguishing moment until the latter period of Act II.
WTF! has the standard role characteristics established in Slasher films. This composition could have carried on in many directions to move an inventive concept. It seems the writing team proceeded with what functions best, a time-tested formula.
Although the practical effects were praiseworthy there needed to be more emphasis on gory scenery. Better kills make for better Horror experience. Turn to the video game platforms to see its success among audiences.
WTF! not only caters to Horror connoisseurs the film also telegraphs as a proper viewing for casual genre fans. The refined production repackages the slasher theme. Herro offers an agreeable performance piece in Horror cinema. While the acting may be satisfactory the chemistry sufficed in conveying the overall mood. WTF! has the potential for expansion. If the production team go this route it would be most welcome.
