31 Confirmed for World Premier, January 2016
31, the much anticipated film from Rob Zombie is confirmed for a world premier at the Sundance Film Festival, Midnight section. Alchemy, Independent content distributor for film and television had acquired the North American rights to Rob Zombie’s latest film earlier this year. Scheduled for theatrical release in 2016, Alchemy will be offering the exclusive world premier at Sundance. The film festival runs between January 21 to January 31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Rob Zombie commented on the world premier of his latest horror film at Sundance, here’s what he said:
“We are all super-jazzed with the way 31 turned out. I can’t wait to get to Park City and unleash it on the Sundance Film Festival audience! ”
Funding for Rob Zombie’s upcoming horror film, “31” was obtained primarily though crowd-sourcing avenues. In a previously distributed press release Rob Zombie expressed the need to relaunch a second crowdfunding campaign to cater the overwhelming support from fans.
Last year Rob Zombie broke boundaries and hosted a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign for his upcoming feature length film 31. We are pleased to announce that the campaign is being re-launched this month due to popular demand. “After wrapping up our first campaign, we were bombarded with late requests to be part of the 31 action. So here we go again! Time to join the bloody clown mayhem! Filming starts in March so get ready for tons of exciting updates on what promises to be the most fucked up film of the year,” said Rob. 31 is, in part, a crowdfunded endeavor that will allow Zombie’s legions of fans to be involved from the ground up with his latest project. “I wish something like this had existed when I was a kid,” Zombie explained. “I would have killed to be part of so many movies. Even being involved in the smallest way would have been awesome.”
According to IMDB.com, the synopsis to the film “31” reads as follows:
Five people are kidnapped on the days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31 where the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.
