Screen Gems, Snapchat Partner for Underworld: Blood Wars VRAugmented Reality
Underworld: Blood Wars has a scheduled release for the 6th of January 2017. Screen Gems have initiated the promotional machine for the film. Underworld 3D Lens will release nationwide on the 29th of December 2016. Development of the interactive 3D lens stems between the Screen Gems/Snapchat partnership.
The Underworld 3D Lens uses built-in gyroscope technologies from mobile phones. Snapchatters will experience a 360-degree themed environment. The surroundings will respond in real-time to the movement of the device. The user will also assume the role of a vampire. The venture is a first of its class. Thus, this is an innovative way to connect fans and Snapchatters with Underworld.
Snapcodes will issue before the Underworld 3D Lens launch. These codes will advertise across mediums including TV, and print. The codes grant early access to the Screen Gems/Snapchat’s augmented reality experience.
The venture into augmented reality is a reasonable business maneuver. Augmented reality is still in its infancy. Yet, the technology had evolved from the prototype stages. Screen Gems looks to capitalize on the trend. Using this multimedia platform perhaps Screen Gems hopes to coerce attention to the film. Higher box office sales are the primary goal.
Underworld: Blood Wars is the final installment of the franchise that began in 2003. Actress Kate Beckinsale will reprise her role as heroine, Selene. The story draws focus on a centuries-old feud between vampires and werewolves. There are no sparkles and oversized dogs in this film franchise.
