The Boy Next Creepy Doll Horror Entry
“The Boy” is an upcoming Horror film directed by William Brent Bell based off the screenplay written by Stacey Menear. Scheduled for release on the 22nd of January 2016 via production companies; Lakeshore Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment is the film, “The Boy”. Not to be confused with the 2015 Horror release bearing the exact same title via production companies; SpectreVision, Chiller Films, and Contento Films.
The premise of the film, “The Boy” centers on the uncanny yet notion of a British couple utilizing a life like doll to cope with the loss of their child. The concept isn’t entirely based on fiction but in fact its under believable circumstance. There’s currently a market for the sale of life-life dolls to people coping with the sudden death of a child or loved one. It will be interesting to see how the idea would translate to this, the latest entry of the whole creepy doll Horror sub genre. “The Boy” is rated PG-13, which leads one to believe the film will offer more suspenseful spooky atmosphere than Horror.
The synopsis to “The Boy” is as follows:
Greta is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.
