Acts of Desperation based on the synopsis carries the impression of an intense character-driven narrative. The traditional players of the game are the seasoned cop, a hardened thief, petty hooligans searching for a big score and a vixen with an accidental love interest. We see this roster of personalities in some interpretive form in any given crime Drama, Thriller. Director Richard Friedman translates Acts of Desperation from script to screen based on the screenplay composed by Nathan Illsley. The synopsis has fluctuations of the word desperate to highlight the desperation factored in the film. As turgid as the synopsis is how does the trailer adequate in describing Richard Friedman’s latest visual narrative?
With a running time of one minute and thirty seconds, the Acts of Desperation trailer offers a mishmash of scenes that will leave viewers puzzled. Often trailer editors display too much of the plot that belies a reason to view the film. In other circumstances, the teaser may attract appeal to the visual medium. For the Acts of Desperation trailer, the appointed scenes are spliced at random making it problematic to identify the plot. Is Richard Friedman and Nathan Illsley aiming for comedic elements? Is Acts of Desperation an anthology of intersecting storyline? The occasional superimposed on-screen text is distracting and irrelevant. Why compliment the otherwise wordy synopsis.
There is sufficient footage in the Acts of Desperation trailer to evaluate the acting and cinematography components. Viewers astute to the emotional context will detect satisfactory prose to the performances in Acts of Desperation. The cinematography appears basic with its scarcity of light painting and or inventive camera handling. The one/two editing cuts between two communicating characters subtract the suspense of the performance.
Overall not all trailers communicate the theme of the film with success. Acts of Desperation may read differently in its full feature form. Subtracting the wordy rundown and a trailer arranged by Edward Scissorhands Acts of Desperation bears an entertaining structure that warrants a viewing. The characters feel generic but are appealing.
