A college student who will do just about anything for Internet fame is kidnapped by a fan, and her reluctant roommate is the only one who can save her in this horror satire of popularity culture.
Clickbait made its World Premiere at the GenreBlast Film Festival on September 1, 2018. The Internet and Social Media can be useful tools in everyday life. They have also proven to be dangerous tools as seen in Horror cinema productions. Modern day filmmakers have been using the power of the Internet to their advantage to create intriguing productions.
Amanda Colby Stewart……Bailey
Seth Chatfield……Detective Frank Dobson
Ryan James Hilt……Chase
Clickbait follows a group of people who have a high online presence. Some will do whatever it takes to keep their presence up in the social status. When Laura (Jannica Olin) posts a video making people aware she is dying, Bailey, whose online popularity is taking a decrease, realizes how big death is, and uses this to push her fame back to the top. Doing whatever it takes to keep her popular status, she puts her own life at risk.
This is a concept that is entertaining seeing how the trailer plays out. Its comedic undertones can give it leverage against other like-minded films that are more dark and suspenseful. It can also prove that films of this nature can take different paths in creativity.
Clickbait adds another latch on the Social Media and technology’s belt. Yet, it’s comedic twist provides it an opportunity for a fresh approach and a different path than its competition. This is an opportunity for a redefining moment.
