Trapped in an abandoned insane asylum, five college students and the rogue scientists who abducted them must band together when a supernatural threat appears.
Human experimentation and U.S. government involvement are not a work of fiction. Private research institutions are also suspect for conducting atrocious acts on human subjects. A simple Google search for topics such as MK Ultra and The Tuskegee Syphilis Study. While the notion is real and frightening these events serve well in Horror cinema. There are a great many films that touch on this subject. From the zombie apocalypse to the supernatural, clandestine experiments makes for morbid entertainment.
The Control Group is the latest film to venture into sciences and its illegal operations. Much like the real Stanford Experiment students are the focus of the narrative.
The Control Group is set to release on DVD via Wild Eye Releasing. Hurd’s film is now available via iTunes.
Trailer First Impressions:
From the start, the trailer provides the underlying theme of the film. Students serve as subjects for an experimental military experiment. The promotional clip develops as the unsuspecting group of subjects regain cognitive thought. Fear and desperation begin to flourish as the group tries to seek a means of escape.
The Control Group offers supernatural elements. How do these entities manifest into the story line, that remains to be seen?
The few clips provided in the trailer has enough to suggest some B-movie type acting. Of course, this assessment is speculative. The visuals in the trailer are not over the top and do the trek on being average in value.
It will be interesting to see how the narrative for The Control Group evolves. Stay tuned to DecayMag for our review for Peter Hurd’s upcoming horror film.
