Robin and Michael are college sweethearts who have everything – a perfect marriage, adorable cat, a beautiful home, but one thing is missing from this idyllic setting – a baby. After years of fertility treatments, their dreams come true when Robin finds out she is pregnant! Is this a dream come true or a nightmare come to life? Cynthia Directors: Devon Downs, Kenny Gage Writer: Robert Rhine

Cynthia, a mother’s worst nightmare, begins innocently enough- a man and a woman, in love, decide to have a baby. It seems to be an arduous task, but eventually, Robin becomes pregnant. Much to her surprise, she is going to have twins! However, she gets much more than she bargained for when instead, she births something evil. Sid Haig (Spider Baby, Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses) stars as one of the detectives who embarks on a “monster-baby hunt of epic proportions” as six-fingered Cynthia terrorizes (and eats) the neighborhood. This is “the first fully financed production from Girls and Corpses Presents” and is being distributed by Indican Pictures. Cynthia Directors: Devon Downs, Kenny Gage Writer: Robert Rhine

First Impressions

I can already tell that Cynthia is everything that a great horror-comedy needs; it is bloody, it is funny, and the cast is phenomenal. This film won “Best Horror Film 2018” from the IFS Film Festival, and Sid Haig earned an award of his own for his role as Detective Edwards. There is an amazing cast, including three Rob Zombie alumni- Scout-Taylor Compton (Halloween 1&2), Sid Haig (The Devil’s Rejects), and Bill Moseley (also in The Devil’s Rejects). The lighting and cinematography were quite impressive for an “indie film”. This trailer gripped me from the very beginning, and did not let go until the very end!

In Conclusion

It may sound bold, but this is probably one of the top three films that I am the most excited for this Fall. With lots of blood, gore, and a great cast, Cynthia appears to be a lovely blend of shock and “AWWW!” This nightmare is a “campy horror” fan’s dream come Cynthia Directors: Devon Downs, Kenny Gage Writer: Robert Rhine
