Darkness looms over a small town where Samantha, a troubled teen who has been in and out of foster care, is desperate to find a place where she can fit in.
Her latest foster family – Liz, Garrett, and their daughter Olivia – find Sam thorny and difficult and she leans increasingly on her friend Emily, the last connection to her troubled past.
When a careless decision by Sam leads to Olivia’s disappearance in the forest behind their house, a frantic search ensues; things look bleak until three days later, Olivia stumbles out of the woods, apparently unharmed.
But as time passes, Sam notices odd things about Olivia’s behaviour, and begins to suspect that whatever it is that returned from the woods is not her foster sister. And as she digs deeper, she learns that Olivia is not the first to disappear.
The forest is full of secrets, dangerous and old. With time running out, Sam must unravel the mystery before an ancient evil can destroy her family from within.
After a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, The Hollow Child is now in production. The campaign earned Ten thousand six hundred ninety-five dollars ($10,695). That’s actually one hundred two percent funded!
Jeremy Lutter will direct based on the script written by Ben Rollo. The Hollow Child is a Broken Mirror Films and Like Minded Media production
The story follows Samantha, a troubled foster teen. There is a dangerous supernatural imposter in her community. Samantha works to expose the entity and rescue her foster sister.
The trailer for The Hollow Child is simple yet intense and intriguing. A group of young women, including an adolescent, are walking in the woods. The youngest disappears. One of the older girls is talking to the police on the whereabouts of the young girl.
When the youngest girl returns to her family, she is different on some level. She behaves strange, almost as if possessed. There are questionable cuts on her arm.
The older girl returns to the forest. From there, a nightmare ensues. Strange things begin to take place in the forest. This including a depiction of a human-like creature. From here, the older sister seems to become possessed by an unseen presence.
The Hollow Child may sound familiar but intriguing nonetheless. I get a feel of The Forest vibe after reading the synopsis and watching the trailer. Jason Zada directed the Supernatural Thriller which released last year.
One thing is for sure, The Hollow Child plays just like a Supernatural, Thriller. I even count on the demon possession or some sort of evil entity to be of emphasis
