To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story is the harrowing story of a stuntman overcoming a dehumanizing childhood filled with torment and bullying in Sparks, Nevada. After surviving a near-death burn accident, he worked his way up through Hollywood, leading to his ultimate rise as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th series and making countless moviegoers forever terrified of hockey masks and summer camp. Featuring interviews with cinema legends, including Bruce Campbell (Ash vs. Evil Dead), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira: Mistress of the Dark), To Hell and Back peels off the mask of Kane Hodder, cinema’s most prolific killer, in a gut-wrenching, but inspiring, documentary. After decades of watching Kane Hodder on screen, get ready to meet the man behind the mask in To Hell and Back – an uniquely human story about one of cinema’s most vicious monsters.

Overview:

Kane Hodder is synonymous with Horror cinema and its principal attribution is for his portrait of zombie serial killer Jason Voorhees. Hodder donned the iconic hockey mask and exemplified the role more than any other performer in the Friday the 13th franchise. The slasher series soon declined in popularity with mainstream markets. The last installment released in 2001 and passed straight to DVD/VOD. In this chapter, Hodder portrays two variants of Jason Voorhees in outer space!

A few years later a Friday the 13th reboot released in 2009 and it did not feature Hodder as the deadly foe. Opinions on this film remain divided in the Horror community to this day. Last year Hodder reprised the role of Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th game developed by Gun Media and IllFonic. Aside from Jason Voorhees Hodder continues to cement his career in Horror cinema with back-to-back film releases. His latest role as the monstrous killer Victor Crowley spawned an indie slasher franchise, Hatchet.

With his many contributions to the Horror genre, it is no surprise Hodder gets to be the focus of his own documentary. To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story unmasks the man behind the hockey mask and its accompanying layers of prosthetic latex.

To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story is a long-awaited expose on the stuntman, the actor, and the person named Kane Hodder. From the trailer and synopsis, there’s also the comment on perseverance and dedication oneself to artistic craft.
