After the incredible success of World War Z, Brad Pitt reels in on a sequel.

The Zombie Action-Adventure-Horror film released in 2013 and was directed by Marc Forster, written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, Damon Lindelof, and J. Michael Straczynski. Based on the novel by Max Brooks.

Life for former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane and his family seems content. Suddenly, the world is plagued by a mysterious infection turning whole human populations into rampaging mindless zombies.

After barely escaping the chaos, Lane is persuaded to go on a mission to investigate this disease. What follows is a perilous trek around the world where Lane must brave horrific dangers and long odds to find answers before human civilization falls.

World War Z did extremely well in sales in the opening weekend, with almost $67,000,000 in domestic sales, grossing over $200,000,000, and over $540,000,000 in lifetime gross sales. It became the #2 rank in over 3,600 theaters.*

The Zombie-epidemic film won three awards, including Saturn Award for “Best Thriller Film”, ASCAP Award for “Top  Box Office Films”, and MTV Movie Award for “Best Scared-As-Shit Performance” Marc Forster, Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, Damon Lindelof, J. Michael Straczynski. "World War Z"

Brad Pitt starred the lead role as Gerry Lane in Marc Forster’s film, and he has made it clear that he wants a sequel. After a tremendously successful first film and an outstanding performance, a sequel is definitely in order.

Pitt had his eyes on J.A. Baytona to direct the sequel. Unfortunately, Baytona became wrapped up with Jurassic World. Now, Pitt has his eyes set on David Fincher.

Of course, Pitt and Fincher have worked together before. Fight Club, Se7en, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So, I can see why he is hoping that Fincher will direct the sequel to the zombie film over the other directors he’s met with.

Not to mention that the Director/Producer is extremely talented and has built his repertoire tremendously. His films have won countless awards. The Social Network was also a sensation.

World War Z has a rumored release date of June 9, 2017. However, after losing Baytona, and Fincher still not decided, the film’s release could possibly be delayed. Stay tuned for more updates.
