Worry Dolls, Supernatural Horror Thriller
Worry Dolls had its World Premiere at the 2015 Film4 FrightFest back on August 2015. News has surfaced that Studiocanal, French-based production and distribution company recently acquired the rights for “Worry Dolls”. The acquisition allows Studiocanal to distribute the film within the United Kingdom and Ireland markets. Meanwhile, Jinga Films will maintain distribution and sales globally. The supernatural horror thriller is directed by Padraig Reynolds based off the script written by Danny Kolker and Christopher Wiehl. Jinga Films has a standing working relationship with director Padraig Reynolds. The film distributor had also facilitated on his debut feature film, the Horror / thriller titled; “Rites of Spring”.
“Worry Dolls” touches on multiple genres including crime thriller, suspense and of course Horror. The film explores the ancient and (often misrepresented) religion of voodoo as the basis to the film. However, that’s not the only concept used, “Worry Dolls” also features traits of a slasher film. How did these two entirely different ideas combine? Simple. A serial killer is killed by authorities, in his possession were Guatemalan amulets. Some how these amulets get into the hands of an unsuspecting person who in turn makes jewelry out of them. Brutal killings begins across the metropolis as buyers of the cursed jewelry become psychotic and act out murderous tendencies. Seems unique in its own right, based on the trailer (see below) the pace of the film looks intriguing enough.
The official synopsis to “Worry Dolls” reads as follows
In the aftermath of the hunt for a serial killer, an ancient curse consumes a city, causing a series of brutal murders and pits a detective against the clock to save his daughter’s life.
A release date for “Worry Doll” has not yet been issued. with the recent acquisition by Studiocanal, the film will probably be released in Europe first before reaching the U.S. Stay tuned.
