Terrified Reboot In Development

Timestamp 00:2:27

Topic Lead: Ken Artuz, DecayMag

According to an article from Deadline dated December 20th, 2018 Fox Searchlight has greenlit the unnecessary reboot to the 2017 Argentinian Horror film Atterados. The English translated titled is Terrified and that is the sentiment we here at DecayMag share when the word reboot rears its ugly head.

Directed and written by Demián Rugna Atterados revolves around the following synopsis:

When strange events occur in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires, a doctor specializing in the paranormal, her colleague, and an ex-police officer decide to investigate further.

IMDb.com

Sacha Gervasi will rewrite the script for the reboot of Atterados,  Guillermo del Toro will produce and Demián Rugna will direct. In our discussion, we voice our disdain on why Atterados should merit a reboot. Atterados is now available on Shudder.

James Wan Leaves Resident Evil Reboot

Timestamp 00:17:46

Topic Lead: Paul Dulski, Everything Horror Podcast

James Wan via Atomic Monster Productions was onboard as a producer for the reboot to the live-action film Resident Evil. Or was he? Based on the popular video game franchise from Capcom, Resident Evil has garnered over two hundred seventy million dollars ($270,000,000) in the domestic cinema box office. According to Bloody Disgusting, during an interview with James Wan for the Aquaman release, Wan states he has since dropped out of the Resident Evil reboot

“I hate it when my projects get announced. It makes it seem like I’m attached to a lot of things when in fact I’m not necessarily doing so many things.”

James Wan

James Wan also puts blame on the press for revealing fake news

“It’s the journalists that want to announce stuff….”

James Wan

While The Resident Evil reboot may not be a project in the works Wan is indeed working on the remake for the 2016 film Train to Busan is still happening. Another unnecessary reboot.
