Review:

The backstory for The Watcher was a much welcome addition to season three. Questions lingered and surrounded this individual and his intention. This fabrication of an antagonist was the only component arresting this series. Horror films are only as successful as the antagonist presented. This declaration holds true for science fiction mediums. Enthusiasts of the 12 Monkeys television series were interested to know more about the character responsible for the death of billions. The final three chapters pacified all curiosity. Each episode focused on this nefarious character.
The chain of events was cliche. A man becomes torn between his love. He grows vindictive against the world and sets to destroy it. It is appalling how villains have to be of British origin.  Is this the standard for major studio houses? The narrative poses a clever approach in placing a British villain into the mix. The Witness had an upbringing in England, away from his American-based parents. How convenient.

The visual aesthetics were amazing. It’s the ensemble and set designs that reinforce this crippled time travel tale. A victorian ball remains as the centerpiece of the episode titled Masks. In the final episode, Witness also features some intriguing wardrobe. This acclaim centers on the attire worn by The Witness in the final scene.
To sum, 12 Monkeys season 3 offered no reason or basis. The Witness turns out to be someone else. The virus gets released to the public regardless. As for the heroes of this tale, they live to fight another day. What was the goal of season three? The narrative needed closing and cement any continuation of the series. It seems Syfy may not be ready to close the chapter on 12 Monkeys as a franchise.
For the upcoming rendition focus should be used on intricate storylines. Maintain the gorgeous backdrops and costume design. Do without the cliches and establish better character development.
