“Brides” A Gothic Soap Drama…

“Brides” is a recently established pilot production deal between NBC Entertainment and Screenwriter/comic book writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in collaboration with television producer Greg Berlanti. “Brides” will be prsented as a modern conceptual reconstruct based off of the three characters, “The Brides of Dracula”within Bram Stoker’s mythos.

“The Brides of Dracula”,  originally introduced in the classic novel, “Dracula” the trio of seductive and equally deadly female vampires known as “The Brides of Dracula” resided with Count Dracula in his castle in Transylvania. They prey on men utilizing their seductive powers.  In the novel, “Dracula” to vampire hunter, Van Helsing falls victim to “The Brides of Dracula” before he manages to break the spell and slay the unholy vampires.

The overall premise to the upcoming vampire drama,”Brides” is as follows:

Brides described as a sexy re-imagining of Dracula as a family drama with a trio of strong, diverse female leads, a show about empowered women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their non-traditional family.

This isn’t the first time NBC Entertainment launched a series based on the “Dracula” novel or on the Vampire Horror sub-genre in general. Television series “Dracula” starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular character “Dracula” was cancelled after one season on the air. The television series was a modern updated based off of Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula” and was produced by London-based Carnival Films. The “Dracula” television series only ran for ten episodes and had a strong opening debut before rating dipped dramatically.  The series was a project from NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt

Further information on “Brides” regarding cast, crew and production have yet to be released. “Brides” is a project in association with Warner Brothers Television and studio-based Berlanti Productions, with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions will serve as Executive Producer.
