This review covers the first to episodes:

  • “Pilot”
  • “Digging Your Grave with Your Teeth” received exclusive access from The Chiller Channel to conduct this review.

Slasher, is the next addition to the Mystery, Horror series taking over airwaves. The Slasher concept is making a return and targets new generation of audiences. First there was MTV, then FOX join in on the trend. Chiller offers their version of Slasher, Mystery, Horror with “Slasher”. The eight episodic series is the original series debut for the network.  Both episodes screened for this review will air Friday, the 4th of March 4 2016 at 9/8c. The debut will be a double-episode premiere event.

Slasher” opens with a solid “wow” factor. Blood, gore and more blood best summarizes the first two episodes. The opening scene to the pilot episode provides the perfect set-up for the series. We can’t provide intricate details at the moment. We can share this: it’s a bloodbath Horror connoisseurs and casual Horror views will enjoy. Chiller’s “Slasher” offers the type of carnage that blends well with the story-line.

Audiences will connect with the protagonist, Sarah Bennett (Katie McGrath). Sarah returns to the town she was “born”. Note: the word born is in quotations, watch the show to grasp the reason for this. Sarah, moves into the home where her parents died years prior. Immediately thereafter a series of murders and mysterious occurrences unfold. Sarah’s husband Dylan Bennett (Brandon Jay McLaren) grows concerned for his wife’s safety. If the portrayal of characters is a concern. Worry no more. The cast offer an excellence in execution to their respected roles. Absent from “Slasher” is any trace of substandard acting.

Chiller’s “Slasher” ventures into Horror cliches. Although presented sparingly the offering nonetheless dulls the climatic scenery. “Slasher” borrows concepts applied in the 1991 Thriller starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. The use of this application doesn’t do well in this series. It seems a little far fetched.

In closing:

Chiller’s “Slasher” offers a serious toned Mystery, Horror series. The series will rival MTV’s similar concept offering. The Horror series airing on FOX  fails to parallel the quality offered by “Slasher”. A realistic portrayal of characters replace annoying helpless posh teens. We’re hooked! Chiller’s original series debut is bound to be a favorite. If you enjoy a good Whodunnit Mystery Horror tuned into Chiller on Friday, the 4th of March 4 2016 at 9/8c.
