Twin Peaks Series Delayed..

Twin Peaks, the supernatural psychological thriller created by Mark Frost and David Lynch was slated for a 2016 return on premium cable and satellite television network, Showtime. However, plans for the the limited series iteration was recently rescheduled, with a premiere set for sometime in 2017. “Twin Peaks”  first aired on ABC in 1990 and was prematurely cancelled on June 10, 1991, since then the series became a classic 25th year Twin Peaks

The 2016 broadcast to the limited-series release of “Twin Peaks” would’ve commemorated a twenty-five year anniversary of its cancellation. Furthermore, “Twin Peaks” season two series finale contained the line that falls well in line with a 2016 broadcast, and it was as follows:

“I will see you again in twenty-five years.”

A representative for Showtime commented that a late 2016 broadcast premiere of “Twin Peaks” is still a possibility.

The “Twin Peaks” premier delay was a tactical ploy to garner subscriptions for Showtime’s newly launched broadband streaming service.  Details emerged from the third-quarter earnings conference call of CBS Corp. parent company of Showtime. Leslie Moonves, chief CBS Corp. is treating “Twin Peaks”

“…as a property that will likely drive  standalone broadband offering.”

Production for the “Twin Peaks” limited television series engagement have occurred for over a year. However, budget disputes between show creator David Lynch and Showtime hampered further development.  A deal was eventually established, a ten episode mini-series integration of “TwinPeaks” with David Lynch directing an writing every episode.

On board for the “Twin Peaks” production is series co-creator Mark Frost and the original cast members Kyle MacLachlanSherilyn FennSheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, and Mädchen Amick are slated to return. Joining the cast are Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Balthazar Getty, Robert Knepper, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Naomi Watts and Robert Forster may also be joining the cast but confirmation is neither denied or confirmed at this point.
