Conarium, Horror Adventure Game Takes Steam 2017
Conarium Explores Survival Horror with Lovecraftian Flair
Conarium, published by Iceberg Interactive is an upcoming Horror, Adventure video game. This is the latest development from Zoetrope Interactive. The title has a general release date for Xbox One and PS4 sometime in 2017.
The game will also be available for PC via Steam. For the later a projected release is set around the first quarter of Q1-2017. In simple terms, the PC release lies between January to March 2017.
Conarium is a chilling Lovecraftian game, which follows a gripping story involving four scientists and their endeavor to challenge what we normally consider to be the ‘absolute’ limits of nature. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novella “At the Mountains of Madness”, but largely set after the original story.
Running on the Unreal 4 engine, Conarium will offer the traits of a true survival Horror experience. Players will assume the role of the protagonist Frank Gilman. A lone scientist at Upuaut, a desolate research facility near Antarctica. Suffering from amnesia, it is up to the player to trek through the environment and solve puzzles. Each clue will bring the story closer to resolution.
The game delves into supernatural concepts. Gilman must avoid the lingering sinister entities throughout Upuaut. The protagonist himself is a product of the unknown. According to the press release the titular character;
“….died but then returned subtly changed, speaking of strange memories and of strange places. You have lost something important or gained something sinister…”
The inspiration is drawn from H.P. Lovecraft’s novella At the Mountains of Madness. The modern expression of this Lovecraftian story is rife with intrigue. Scattered throughout the virtual world to enhance the gaming experience are Easter eggs. The replay factor is set high. Players will be able to create different final outcomes. A haunting soundtrack is also promised.
“Developed by our friends at Zoetrope Interactive, lauded by fans for the acclaimed Darkness Within horror adventure series, Conarium will definitely satisfy fans of the horror genre – and beyond. This game honors Lovecraft’s work with its portentous and sinister undertones, and promises to be a wonderfully created piece of art.”
