Alwa’s Awaking is a retro style 8-bit adventure game. The game looks gorgeous and well thought out. Elden Pixels put some fine details in the game that hard work becomes appreciated. A good example of in-game details would be the combat animation against enemies. The soundtrack and art style definitely captures a nostalgia era.
Alwa’s Awaking mimics the style and feel of old school video games such as the Mario and Pokémon franchises. In-game mechanics look simple and seems to be a welcome factor for the average gamer. Yet, the puzzles do look challenging and very complicated. Based on the trailer the game looks like a fresh take on a retro style game.
Alwa’s Awaking looks awesome and every little detail makes this game pop. Yet, Elden Pixels need to be careful not to mimic old school gameplay and mechanics too much. The reason for this is because if they do the game would be a knockoff of classic game titles. If the developers have fresh ideas with mechanics and puzzles Alwa’s Awaking will be a hit. If you’re a fan of 8-bit art styles and retro gameplay definitely check Alwa’s Awaking out.
