Fluffy, Horror VR Shorts On Steam

Fluffy, is a room-scale narrative for the HTC VIVE virtual devices. Sebastian Marino directed the film short loosely inspired by An American Werewolf in London. Marino is notable for his experience as a Hollywood visual effects artist.

The setting takes place in a motel and set against the backdrop to An American Werewolf in London. Actor Michael Donaldson portrays the protagonist. The central character is a bellman with a quirky obsession with pets.

Director Sebastian Marino offers the following regarding his Virtual Reality short film:

“Once you’re able to cross the `uncanny valley` in room-scale VR, the question quickly becomes whether you’re able to communicate an emotive and nuanced performance.  We wanted to show that we hadn’t lost our actor’s humanity in the translation to VR….” 

An American Werewolf in London released in 1981. The film is regarded as a significant contributor to the Horror genre. The iconic werewolf transformation remains one of the most exceptional examples of practical effects.

The synopsis to An American Werewolf in London reads as follows:

Two American college students on a walking tour of Britain are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists.

 Fluffy is free to play and is now available on Steam. The project comes courtesy of San Fransico, New York-based company, Uncorporeal Systems. The run length time to the film short is one minute thirty seconds.

Fluffy is one of two dramatic room-scale narrative VR short films released by Uncorporeal Systems.
