“Silent Hills” A Creative Team That was..

“Silent Hills”, details surrounding the now defunct project have recently surfaced via social media platform, Twitter. Guillermo del Toro released a series of Tweets revealing Japanese Horror manga artist Junji Ito was slated to join the “Silent Hills” project. Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro were collaborating on “Silent Hills” with The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, cast as the protagonist to the game.

However,  in April Konami would cancel the “Silent Hills” video game despite being a highly anticipated title. Konami even went as far as to remove the “Silent Hills” P.T. (playable teaser) from the PlayStation Network. Rumors were abound on problems between Hideo Kojima and Konami, after the release of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.” the two parted ways thus confirming initial reports.

Junji Ito is notorious for works such as “Gyo”, about Okinawa being invaded by mutant killer fish with metal legs, and “Uzumaki” about a town is cursed by an obsession with spirals. Junji Ito, would later corroborate Guillermo del Toro’s post with tweets of his own. He stated that he was infact a part of the “Silent Hill” alongside Hideo Kojima. Junji Ito went on to explain that he attended a meeting with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, but it ended without him being able to say much. Junji Ito added:

“I’m not well-versed when it comes to video games, and I wasn’t very confident on whether I’d be able to contribute much for such a big title as Silent Hill, but Hideo Kojima and del Toro have nothing but my gratitude for having called me.”

In related news, Guillermo del Toro voiced his concerns with the video games industry. In an interview with shacknews during the 2015 Diego Comic Con,  Guillermo del Toro provided the following:

“I have proven to be the albatross of video games…I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.”
