“The Last of Us 2”, Let the Rumors Settle down..
In an earlier report on Decaymag.com titled” “The Last of Us 2” Rumors Spread which can be viewed here discussed were the inadvertent slip of words
and words taken out of context by Naughty Dog developer Josh Scherr, and voice actor Nolan North confirming potential development of “The Last of Us 2”. Of course the word confirming is used as lightly as possible, quite frankly fans of “The Last of Us” are overly anxious, eagerly awaiting the continuation of the “The Last of Us” story line. In the recent issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, “The Last Of Us” creative director Neil Druckmann set the record straight and laid to rest the growing rumors surrounding “The Last of Us 2”.
In June, voice actor and Naughty Dog collaborator, Nolan North stated “The Last of Us 2” was in development. Neil Druckmann shared his reaction on North’s comment:
“I can say that was kind of a surprise for us for him to say that… I was like ‘Oh he knows more than we know [about] what we’re doing next.”
“So, I guess he (North) was kind of right in that we were working on stuff, but we don’t know what we’re doing next and we won’t know until probably a few months after we finish Uncharted 4.”
On the week ending the 18th of September 2015, Naughty Dog writer Josh Scherr also added fuel for the rumor mill by stating “The Last of Us 2” was in the works. Neil Druckmann offers the answer everyone in the gaming community was waiting to hear, Neil Druckmann states:
“The answer is – and this is totally honest, and I’ve said this in the past – that when Bruce (Straley) and I moved over to Uncharted 4, we were brainstorming ideas for The Last Of Us 2 with new characters; ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas. And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4.”
There you have it ladies and gentlemen, the multi-award winning 2013 survival horror masterpiece, “The Last of Us” is not getting a sequel treatment, at least not yet. Perhaps in the foreseeable future, once Naughty Dog settles with current project will we be able to have a confirmation of “The Last of Us 2”.
