“Hellraiser” Returns in Horror Short

Hellraiser: What’s Your Pleasure?” is a Horror short film directed by Darren Orange is based off the “Hellraiser” franchise/mythos created by Clive Barker.  The screenplay to “Hellraiser: What’s Your Pleasure?” was written by  J.A. Dohm in collaboration with Matt Forbeck with Darren Orange contributing.

The film centers on college student, Kim (portrayed by Ashley Turkowski), not much is provided in her story other than the fact that she’s coincidentally writing her thesis on extreme body modifications and/or body suspensions. “Hellraiser: What’s Your Pleasure?” begins with Kim’s boyfriend, Nick (portrayed by Jon Goldstein) giving Kim a birthday present, which we later discover is the notorious Lemarchand box.

The Horror film short “Hellraiser: What’s Your Pleasure?” may appeal to fans of the “Hellraiser” franchise or it may not. While this article is not a review, its important to point out that continuity is key to any production. A Lack of direction lowers the quality of the project, especially one just nine-minutes in length. Case in point; Kim leaves an establishment with a closed knapsack, arrives to school without it on her person and she later arrives home with it a half opened (just to showcase the gift wrapped Lemarchand box).  Harold Dennis portrays the sadomasochistic demon Pinhead however we don’t get to see or hear the actor at all.  Utilizing clips from previous “Hellraiser” films, overdubs of Doug Bradley’s voice were used and strategic camera angles severed Harold Dennis’ screen time altogether, an outright crime against the talent.
