My Dance Vlog Is Haunted stars Paige Cummings as Syd Amicus, a teen girl who creates a vlog for her favorite pastime, dancing. While filming episodes at her dance studio, she soon becomes aware that there is something spooky going on in the old building, as she’s had some pretty creepy encounters.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted has been in production for over a year. The YouTube mini-series is created and produced by Berry Meyer. The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network is an independent production company featuring local talents and acts. It is shot in locations throughout Jamestown, NY.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted stars Paige Cummings as Syd Amicus. She is an aspiring dancer. She also likes fashion and reading. Along with her dance crew, they work on dance acts.
Interweaving throughout the series is fashion modeling, talks about books and literature, and fun and casual girls nights out.
The central theme of the series is poltergeist activity. During the recordings, Syd and her crew notice strange happenings. It starts out small and gets more intense each episode. Could these be the works of a poltergeist?
Follow Syd and crew on the Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network to keep up to date on the episodes and to crack the mystery.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted is original and unique with some interesting standpoints. Present here are fresh ideas, many not frequented much in the paranormal theme, if at all. I can see similarities between My Dance Vlog Is Haunted with The Mysteries of Nancy Drew. If the production crew made shorts instead of found-footage the comparison holds true.
This series is a great way to extend creativity and promote an unrelated book trilogy. In fact, much of the comments to each video talk about McKenzie’s book series. Its successful in motivating people into becoming potential customers and supporters. It also takes a social commentary approach to a new level.
As Syd investigates her dance studio she communicates with fans on camera. Viewers of the channel can weigh in on the videos and offer feedback. There’s also an emotional connection with fans becoming immersed in the experience.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted could go further into the actual production. The videos themselves can be something far more creative. Young women incorporate daily lifestyles into the theme. They make their interactions among each other seem natural. It’s like watching a group of close friends doing what they love to do.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted, while a very good concept, could use some work. The main area in need of structure is in the acting. The performances of the young women seem staged. It becomes hard to connect with the actors on an emotional level. Their reactions to events and situations are more comical than anything.
From a cinematography standpoint, could use some brushing up. As I have mentioned this series would be more successful if made into short clips. A focus on mystery and Horror rather than found footage clips.
The special effects could also use some work. The unfolding events while intriguing were mediocre in presentation and lacked convincing. This was one mystery that took no time at all to solve. This analysis is summed in the first 15 episodes.
My Dance Vlog Is Haunted ties serves as a creative extension but not a connection with McKenzie’s book series:
• The Haunting of Sunshine Girl
• The Awakening of Sunshine Girl
• The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl
DIRECTOR’S NOTE: My Dance Vlog is Haunted is an independent production from the Sunshine Network. The series does air on the Haunting of Sunshine Network, but it is not produced or written by Paige Mackenzie.

1. The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, Book I
Shortly after her sixteenth birthday, Sunshine Griffith and her mother Kat move from sunny Austin, Texas, to the rain-drenched town of Ridgemont, Washington. Though Sunshine is adopted, she and her mother have always been close, sharing a special bond filled with laughter and inside jokes.
But from the moment they arrive, Sunshine feels her world darken with an eeriness she cannot place. And even if Kat doesn’t recognize it, Sunshine knows that something about their new house is just … creepy.
In the days that follow, things only get stranger. Sunshine is followed around the house by an icy breeze, phantom wind slams her bedroom door shut, and eventually, the laughter Sunshine hears on her first night evolves into sobs.
She can hardly believe it, but as the spirits haunting her house become more frightening—and it becomes clear that Kat is in danger—Sunshine must accept what she is, pass the test before her, and save her mother from a fate worse than death.
2. The Awakening of Sunshine Girl Book II
Sunshine Griffith has been awakened. Her powers are now fully alive and spirits follow her everywhere, desperate for help moving on to the afterlife. Hoping to get her abilities under control, she agrees to begin training with her mentor—her birth father, Aidan.
Aidan takes her to an abandoned campus deep in the Mexican jungle, far from her would-be boyfriend and protector, Nolan. But Aidan’s work turns out to be terrifying than Sunshine could have imagined. Is she prepared to finally learn the truth about what’s threatening the future of the human race…and the deadly part she may play in it?
3. The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl Book III
Is Sunshine Griffith who she thinks she is? Now that her luiseach powers are fully awakened, and having barely survived an abyss full of demons at the end of Book Two, Sunshine must figure out who—or what—has been organizing the forces of darkness against her.
Thanks to her brainiac boyfriend, Nolan, they not only unearth that Sunshine’s death would trigger a calamitous event, but that all civilization depends on her survival.
So when an unexpected event unleashes a fierce war between the luiseach and the demon army, Sunshine will learn a shocking truth about herself. Can she bring herself to make the ultimate sacrifice to save humankind?
The trilogy book series is a New York Times Bestseller. It has been compared to Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, and Twilight. It has been raved by well-known critics, including Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, 1987) and R.L. Stine (Goosebumps, 1995).
