Operator Garners Acclaim and Viewership

Operator made its debut on 19th of November 2013. It wasn’t till recently that the short film took the internet by storm. The featurette has since garnered over six hundred thousand (615,000) views. Released on Youtube, is a medium derived from the creative mind of Sam Barnett. “Operator” is a short film running under eight minutes in length. The presentation offers a tried-and-true concept. Yet, it’s not the restated Sci-Fi idea that compels the viewer. It’s the redefinement of the genre that sets this film apart. Sam Barnett sums the premise of the project with the following description:

“I was inspired to make Operator by a few things: parasites like the cordyceps mushroom, which controls the brains of ants so it can use their bodies as food while it spreads its spores as far as possible.”

Merits poured in from across the web in recognition to the crafted film.  Congratulatory input stemmed from online community, Reddit. In effect, “Operator” earned itself two front page on the site. Many online news outlets also offered acclamation for Sam Barnett’s film. Watch the view below to better grasp what all the excitement is about.

“Operator” A Unique Endeavour Seeks Crowdfunding

Indie filmmakers are looking for new methods to redefine the genre. Creative tactics is the intended goal in becoming a success with audiences. Whether it’s story or special/make up effects the goal for filmmakers is original content. Originality is an avenue Sam Barnett has ventured well across. The video posted above is evidence of his achievement in Sci-Fi film making.

“Operator” is a medium crafted as a claymation animated feature. Many are unaware of the painstaking hard work that goes into creating this visual medium. Sam Barnett aims to extended his original work from “Operator: Episode one”.  A clamation web series or perhaps a full length feature are objectives set for the near future.  Yet, these goals are dependent on funds gained through public funding method. Sam Barnett launched a crowdfunding campaign in hopes of financing his artistic visions.

The sysnopsis to “Operator” reads as follows:

InfoCorp corporation enslaves all of its workers with a bio-mechanical parasite. The web series picks up where the short left off, following workers that escape the initial infection as they fight back against the company.

“Operator” resides at six thousand two hundred thirty dollars ($6,230) in funding. Only seven days remain to reach the goal of ten thousand nine hundred sixty dollars ($10,960). Theses statistics coincide with the time of this published report.

Sam Barnett’s “Operator” is exemplary form of Sci-Fi inspired artistry. The accolades garnered on the project are not baseless raves. This visual medium will be a remarkable indie developed project. A web series and/or a full feature film done in claymation is a remarkable achievement in itself.  Take a moment to dwell within Sam Barnett’s creative mindset on the project; “Opertion”. He states the following:

The point is that we grow up with this idea that there is a clear barrier between ourselves and everything else. Operator is a story about a world in which that barrier is ripped to pieces and the boundary between what is and is not us becomes very unclear. It is told from the perspective of characters that have very little power, struggling against a massive corporation that is trying to destroy them. It is a story that I am passionately committed to.
