Simpsons / You’re Next Hybrid High on Gore
Simpsons, America’s most popular cartoon series just got infused with some serious horror content. We’re not talking about the family friendly “Tree House of Horrors” exhibition either. Lee Hardcastle is a self proclaimed Claysploitation artist. Borrowing from pop culture icons he infuses a unique blend of stop-motion horror, comedy with every animated short. In his latest derivative, “The Simpsons” are fused with the horror, thriller “You’re Next” (2011).
The concept to the film, “You’re Next” pertains to the home invasion horror sub genre. The following is the official synopsis to the film;
When the Davison family comes under attack during their wedding anniversary getaway, the gang of mysterious killers soon learns that one of the victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back.
Titled “The Simpsons couch gag [You’re Next]”, the animated short merits a NSFW (Not Safe for Work) safety warning. Although running in under two minutes in length, the viewer is quickly bombarded with play-doh (Lee Hardcastle’s go to art medium) carnage of epic proportions.
Animator Lee Hardcastle is well know for his claymation short films on Youtube. If you’ve haven’t seen any of his self produced animated shorts take a moment to check out his Youtube page.
